Save Gas - Ride A Motorcycle!

The average gas mileage of vehicles in this country stinks. Let's face it, if we keep consuming gas at the rate of 13MPG, we'll be paying 6 bucks a gallon before too long.

Of course, the cars that typically get 35+ MPG are the wimpiest looking vehicles on the planet. There's a reason they don't sell - they have all the sex appeal of Grandma's underwear.

Now, I'm a firm believer in personal choice, and I'm not going to outlaw the big SUV's anytime soon. However, I want to start a national campaign that can let us men keep our dignity AND save gas at the same time.

If I'm elected President of the United States, all motorcycle owners who ride over 5000 miles a year will get a tax break - a nice one. 5000 miles isn't a lot, but it's equal to the average 20 mile round-trip commute over the course of a year. If we can get 20% of the population to sign up for this plan, we'll se a significant drop in gasoline usage, see less traffic on the highways, and it'll make for tougher Americans.

On Wars

When I get into office, I am immediately calling an end to all wars on inanimate objects and ideas. Wars are fought between nations. I will end the "War on Drugs," the "War on Terrorism," and any other foolish "wars" that have been declared over the years. These are wars that can never be won, and they create an Orwellian attitude. It's done.

I'm 35...

It's official. I'm 35 today. At this time, I would like to announce my candidacy for President of the United States of America in the 2008 election.

I will be running under a non-partisan ticket. I believe it's time to offer Americans more of a choice then the traditional two-party ticket, and I don't think any of the current "3rd parties" out there have the clout to make a campaign believable. Plus, I do not want to be beholden to any political entity at this time.

Over the next few months, I will be posting my beliefs here, telling you what I stand for, and how I would change things. If you have specific questions, please e-mail me, and I will do my best to answer them in this forum.

I am not asking for money or time donations at this time. My goal is to attempt to change the traditional campaigning strategy, which is to throw millions of dollars away. I want this to pick up steam by word-of-mouth and word-of-email alone.

Thank you all, and let's make the government BY THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE once again in 2008!

22 Hours and Counting...

So, this is the pre-announcement, first-ever posting in this blog. The excitement level is building.

This country was founded on the belief in government BY THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE. Unfortunately, over the past 200 years, it has morphed into a system where a special class of people run everything. It's now a government BY THE POLITICIANS, FOR THE POLITICIANS.

The average American citizen is so far removed from the running of the country that half of them don't even vote anymore. The professional politicians have created a closed-end system, where replacements are indoctrinated at a young age, groomed for office, and then placed there by the power wielded by our two-party system.

Plus, the people in this "ruling class" are also some of the wealthiest people in the country. The majority of our representatives live a lifestyle that only a small percentage of their constituents live. The rich have taken over - it takes hundreds millions of dollars to run a presidential campaign. This traditionally means that only the millionaires can run for office.

I want to change all that.

I am not a politician. I'm not a rich man. I'm an average joe. I work a regular day job, and I have a working wife, and three kids. And, I want to represent YOU.

More later.
